Official Statement of the World Kurd Organization (WKO)
Condemning Recent Terrorist Attacks and Emphasizing the Urgent Need for a Global Response to Organized Extremism
The World Kurd Organization (WKO), with profound sorrow and deep concern, strongly condemns the recent terrorist and violent attacks across various parts of the world which, over the past week, have deeply shaken international public opinion.
In recent days, the world has once again witnessed the horrific manifestations of terrorism and organized extremism, including the violent shooting at the University of Burton in the United States of America, extremist terrorist attacks targeting United States military forces in Syria, and, most tragically, a deliberate and hate-driven attack against Jewish citizens in the city of Sydney, Australia. These incidents once again demonstrate that terrorism—regardless of geography, religion, or nationality—remains a grave threat to human security, peaceful coexistence, and the fundamental values of human civilization.
The World Kurd Organization unequivocally condemns all forms of terrorist acts under any name, banner, or ideological justification, and expresses its deepest sympathy and solidarity with the families of the victims, the survivors, and the nations affected by these heinous crimes. We extend, in particular, our sincere condolences and unwavering solidarity with the proud Jewish people, and reaffirm that the World Kurd Organization stands firmly alongside all peoples and communities who have become victims of hate-mongering, antisemitism, religious extremism, and terrorism—whether perpetrated by state or non-state actors.
Based on extensive evidence, reports from credible international institutions, and publicly available security data, the World Kurd Organization warns that the totalitarian Islamic regime of Iran plays a central role in the support, organization, and ideological nourishment of extremist and terrorist networks across the region and beyond. This role has become increasingly evident in certain recent attacks, including the terrorist incidents in Australia, where alarming indications of such involvement have emerged.
Through the occupation of vast areas of Kurdistan—particularly the strategically vital Zagros region—this regime has systematically expropriated the region’s immense oil, gas, water, and mineral resources. Rather than directing these resources toward human development and public welfare, they have been diverted to serve extremist ideology, the export of instability, and the financing of regional and transnational terrorism. Such practices constitute a blatant violation of human rights, the rights of peoples, and the fundamental principles of international law.
The World Kurd Organization calls upon the international community, governments, international institutions, parliaments, and global public opinion to recognize their historical responsibility and to provide effective and tangible support to the peoples oppressed by the totalitarian Islamic regime of Iran. We particularly emphasize the necessity of supporting Iran’s legitimate multinational opposition, with special focus on the organized, active, democratic, and responsible Kurdish opposition—an opposition committed to a peaceful transition toward a system founded upon democracy, human rights, justice, equality among peoples, and sustainable coexistence.
The World Kurd Organization firmly believes that only through international solidarity, sustained support for democratic forces, and a resolute confrontation with state-sponsored terrorism and ideological extremism can a safer, more just, and more dignified world be achieved for present and future generations.
